AI-powered note-taking app Granola has introduced a new application designed specifically for the Apple Watch. This development aims to allow users to conveniently record meetings and take notes without needing to access their smartphones. By integrating the app as a watch face, users can quickly begin transcription at any moment, making it especially useful during in-person or walking meetings.

The app also provides meeting reminders and works in tandem with Granola's existing iOS app, which was launched the previous year. According to co-founder Chris Pedregal, the Apple Watch version enables seamless note-taking in scenarios where pulling out a phone might be inconvenient. Initial testing showed a significant shift among users from phone usage to the watch, highlighting the practical benefits of the wearable app.

This launch comes amid a growing trend of auxiliary hardware aimed at enhancing meeting transcription, though Granola opted to focus on software integration with Apple Watch rather than hardware products. Other apps like Monologue have similarly expanded with meeting note-taking features and Apple Watch compatibility earlier this year, illustrating rising demand for these capabilities.

Granola recently achieved unicorn status with a $125 million Series C funding round led by Index Ventures, valuing the company at $1.5 billion. The company is expanding from its original meeting notetaker roots to a broader enterprise AI application, and the Apple Watch app is a strategic step in making AI note-taking more accessible and convenient for professionals on the move.
