Hint, a new AI startup co-founded by Martha Stewart, offers an AI assistant for homeowners

Martha Stewart has co-founded a new AI startup called Hint, which launches an app designed to assist homeowners with managing their properties. The app leverages AI to consolidate property records, maintenance schedules, home-related documents, and energy management tools into one platform. With Hint, users can address tasks like soil and air quality monitoring, insurance claims, and appliance upkeep, while also securely storing relevant contracts and invoices. The app’s AI assistant makes it easy to query this information and receive personalized home care advice.

Co-founder and CTO Kyle Rush, based in New York, highlighted Martha Stewart’s active involvement in the startup, noting that she is not a passive investor but deeply engaged in refining the app’s functionality, branding, and accuracy. Hint initially focused on helping homeowners navigate decarbonization incentives but pivoted to a broader role as an “AI for your home” after recognizing the extended potential of the platform. This positions Hint within a growing ecosystem of AI applications beyond chatbots, adding Stewart’s home management expertise to improve user experience.

To use Hint, homeowners input their address, which allows the app to build a detailed home profile using public data on weather, soil, utilities, and more. Users can upload documents such as inspection reports, warranties, and insurance policies, while also uploading photos of appliances for personalized maintenance guidance. The app proactively notifies users about routine upkeep tasks, including lesser-known activities like cleaning appliance coils or checking water heater components, helping ensure comprehensive home maintenance.

Hint, backed by $10 million in funding from investors like Montauk Capital, Slow Ventures, and Energy Impact Partners, is free to use on iOS with no ads or subscriptions currently. It generates affiliate revenue through a partner network, but AI recommendations remain unbiased. Future plans include premium subscriptions for advanced features like multi-property management. With Hint, the founders aim to empower every homeowner in the U.S. by simplifying home management through applied AI, combining smart data analysis with Martha Stewart’s practical insights.
