Fresh off its Wiz payout, Index Ventures raises $2B across three funds

Index Ventures has announced the successful raising of $2 billion in new capital, distributed across three distinct funds. The firm secured $400 million for a seed-focused fund and $900 million for its venture fund. Additionally, it expanded a growth fund by $700 million, which was initially raised at $1.5 billion in 2024. This fundraising effort brings the total capital at Index Ventures' disposal to $3.5 billion.

This significant capital boost follows notable achievements for Index Ventures, especially the impressive $32 billion acquisition of portfolio company Wiz by Alphabet earlier this year. Index had backed Wiz from the seed stage, eventually holding a 12% stake, which Reuters estimates could be valued at around $3.8 billion. The firm also gained attention with its early investment in Figma, which went public in 2025.

Unlike some venture capital firms that have dramatically scaled their fund sizes recently, Index Ventures has maintained a more measured growth in capital but has distinguished itself through strong performance and key investments. Their portfolio reflects a focus on cutting-edge technology sectors, particularly artificial intelligence and robotics, with stakes in companies like Physical Intelligence, Fireworks AI, and Anthropic. Notably, Anthropic's AI model valuation reached $183 billion during funding rounds last September.

This capital influx positions Index Ventures for continued influence in the venture capital ecosystem, supporting innovative startups at various stages from seed to growth. The firm’s strategic approach and recent windfalls underscore its capacity to back transformative technologies and high-growth companies moving forward.
