Meta has officially launched Pocket, its new AI-powered app for creating and sharing interactive mini-games, across the United States following a quiet test phase in Brazil. Pocket allows users to generate small games—called “gizmos”—using AI-driven prompts, which respond to phone movements, touch, sound, and can incorporate personal photos and music. These interactive experiences are then shared on a social feed where others can save, remix, or repost them.

This initiative stems from Meta’s acquisition of the vibe-coded gaming platform Gizmo earlier this year, along with its core engineering team. The vibe-coding approach enables games to be easily crafted with dynamic interactivity and multimedia features. By integrating familiar elements such as camera access and favorite song clips, Pocket provides a unique blend of user-generated content and AI creativity aimed at casual game development and sharing.

Pocket fits into Meta’s broader strategy to popularize AI-driven creation tools for the mainstream audience. This move follows Meta’s recent introduction of several other AI-focused apps, including ones for generating images, videos, and interactive experiences. CEO Mark Zuckerberg has noted that advances in AI have accelerated development cycles, allowing Meta to launch a diverse portfolio of stand-alone applications like Instagram Instants, Forum, and Seller.

With the Pocket rollout, Meta is also retiring the original Gizmo app to consolidate efforts on this new platform. The transition reflects Meta’s ambition to build out creative tools that leverage AI and take advantage of social recommendation systems to scale usage. Pocket further exemplifies Meta’s strategy of combining AI innovation with social sharing to foster new forms of digital interaction and content creation.
