After Once Calling Crypto A ‘Scam,’ President Donald Trump Earned Over $1.4B From It In 2025 Alone

In a surprising turnaround, former President Donald Trump, who once labeled Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies as scams in 2021, has made over $1.4 billion from the crypto market in 2025 alone. Initially, Trump criticized digital currencies for competing against the U.S. dollar, which he believed should remain the world's dominant currency. However, his stance shifted dramatically ahead of his second term, when he launched the $TRUMP meme coin on the Solana blockchain in January 2025.

The $TRUMP meme coin quickly gained massive traction, achieving a remarkable $70 billion valuation within 60 hours of its debut, marking it as one of the top crypto assets by market cap. Through a licensing agreement with Celebration Coins, the crypto group behind this token, Trump reportedly earned more than $635 million. Additional crypto sales contributed another $236 million to his earnings, as reported by NBC News.

Trump's crypto profits are further boosted by his involvement with World Liberty Financial, a venture that offers governance tokens and other cryptocurrency products. According to details disclosed in his federal financial filing, World Liberty Financial accounts for $65 million in equity and $290 million in income linked to Trump’s crypto wallets. Collectively, these ventures solidified Trump’s place among major crypto stakeholders, complementing his overall net worth, which Forbes currently estimates at $6.3 billion.

The White House has denied any direct profit from Trump’s presidency, stating that his business interests are managed through a trust overseen by his sons. Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly emphasized that neither Trump nor his family engaged in conflicts of interest, and dismissed any contrary media claims as politically motivated. Nonetheless, this massive crypto windfall marks a significant shift in Trump’s public and financial relationship with digital currencies.
