U.S.-based nutrition startup Berry Street has merged with Indian health tech company Healthify, aiming to capitalize on the rising popularity of GLP-1 drugs for weight loss. While the financial specifics of the merger remain undisclosed, this strategic union combines Berry Street’s network of over 2,000 clinics and insurance-covered GLP-1 care services with Healthify’s AI-powered and human-driven fitness and nutrition coaching, already serving more than 45 million customers globally. The new entity will be co-led by Berry Street founder Noah Kotlove and Healthify founder Tushar Vashisht, operating under Berry Street in the U.S. and Healthify in India and other markets.
The merger comes amid projections from a JP Morgan report suggesting over 30 million Americans could be using GLP-1 medications by 2030, a drug class known for aiding weight management. Healthify, which has raised over $150 million to date, recently expanded its operations into the U.S. and introduced GLP-1-assisted programs domestically and in India. Both companies bring strong AI capabilities to the table, with Berry Street having raised $50 million last year from investors like Northzone and Sofina to enhance AI-driven nutritional coaching and meal tracking.
Healthify’s mission to democratize dietitian access through AI aligns with Berry Street’s clinical expertise and extensive care infrastructure, promising to redefine metabolic health care. The new partnership looks to enable scalable delivery of personalized nutrition guidance and expert dietitian support across both established and emerging markets. Vinod Khosla, founder of Khosla Ventures which backs Healthify, emphasized that combining AI with a nationwide network of clinicians is central to this vision of transforming metabolic care.
As they merge, the companies also tap into the upward consumer trend favoring GLP-1 drugs as effective tools for weight loss, an area gaining rapid traction in healthcare. This merger not only strengthens their competitive position but also expands their ability to deliver insurance-covered, tech-enabled nutrition and metabolic health programs to millions. The combined startup is poised to offer a powerful platform blending AI and clinical care at scale across the U.S., India, and beyond.
