Life360 expands pet tracking with new $8 scannable tags and zoomie alerts

Life360, known for its family location-sharing app, has broadened its pet-tracking offerings with a new set of $7.99 scannable pet tags launched on August 25, 2026. These tags use QR codes that anyone can scan to access the pet owner's contact information, but uniquely, they also notify the pet’s family via the Life360 app when a lost pet is found. This innovation builds on Life360’s existing GPS pet trackers introduced last year, which leverage the company’s extensive location-finding network following its 2021 acquisition of Tile, a competitor to Apple’s AirTag.

The new pet tags address pet owners who prefer a simpler, less bulky solution than a GPS tracker and who may not need advanced tracking features such as escape alerts or geofences. When a pet with one of these new tags is located and scanned, the pet’s last known location is shared with the family through their Life360 app, enhancing the chances of a safe return. Importantly, individuals finding the pet do not need to have the Life360 app themselves for the system to work, simplifying the reunion process.

In addition to the new pet tags, Life360 is rolling out care-tracking features that enable families to coordinate pet care routines such as feeding, walks, medication, and litter cleaning. These care logs are shared among all family members via the app so everyone stays informed on the pet’s needs. Another engaging feature introduced is “Zoomies Alerts,” which monitor bursts of high activity in pets, with a weekly summary highlighting distance walked and identifying who provided the most care, adding a fun, data-driven insight into pet wellness.

Alongside the product enhancements, Life360 has also lowered the price barrier for GPS pet trackers by including them in its $99-per-year Silver subscription tier, previously restricted to higher-priced plans. The new pet tags and trackers are currently available through Life360’s website and Amazon, with distribution across the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the U.K., positioning the company to expand its footprint in the pet-tech market by combining family safety technology with practical pet care solutions.
