Anthropic has entered into a significant agreement to lease approximately $45 billion worth of AI computing power from Nscale, a British company specializing in AI infrastructure. Founded in 2024, Nscale has quickly gained prominence by securing deals with major players such as Microsoft, and will provide Anthropic with access to Nvidia’s advanced Vera Rubin chip system. This cutting-edge technology integrates six different chips for enhanced processing power and is slated to support Anthropic’s AI services starting in late 2027 at Nscale’s flagship data center in West Virginia.

This deal is a continuation of Anthropic’s expansive strategy to rapidly increase its computational capacity amid fierce competition with rivals like OpenAI. In recent months, Anthropic has signed multiple agreements, including a $10 billion, six-year contract with AI cloud startup Volta and a $5 billion partnership with chipmaker AMD. In April alone, it secured an additional 5 gigawatts of compute power from Amazon and boosted its partnership with Google and Broadcom.
