YouTube has introduced a new feature allowing eligible creators in the United States to tag Amazon products directly in their shorts, long-form videos, and livestreams. This integration enables creators to earn commissions on purchases made through these tagged products, providing a more streamlined way to monetize recommendations. The move brings Amazon’s extensive marketplace into YouTube’s Shopping Affiliate program, enhancing the range of products creators can promote without needing to manually add purchase links in video descriptions.
The update simplifies the process by supplying creators with a curated catalog of Amazon’s trending and highly requested products to tag in their content. If a desired product isn’t included, creators can request its addition through YouTube Support. Additionally, an auto-tagging feature can scan recent uploads to automatically identify and link eligible Amazon products, further easing the effort for creators to participate in the program.
While detailed analytics for individual tagged items or specific videos won’t be available, creators will receive an overview of their daily earnings within YouTube Studio. Commissions are adjusted if viewers return purchased products. Although the tagging capability is currently limited to eligible U.S. creators, viewers worldwide can see the tags, with YouTube attempting to connect international users to local merchant alternatives to facilitate earnings on global purchases whenever possible.
To qualify for this program, creators must be part of YouTube’s Partner and Shopping Affiliate programs, have an active Amazon Influencer or Associates account, and link it to their YouTube channel. This development marks a significant step in enhancing monetization options for creators while embedding Amazon’s vast product ecosystem into one of the world’s leading video platforms.
