Google has expanded its AI Mode within its conversational search experience to include enhanced travel-related features. Users can now ask AI Mode to track flight prices and book hotels directly, moving beyond merely providing travel information to actively assisting in trip planning and reservations. This tool pulls updated pricing from over 300 airlines and travel sites, allowing users to view options, monitor fare changes, and build itineraries within the AI interface itself.

The flight price tracking feature notifies users via email when ticket prices fluctuate for their selected destinations and dates. This service is now accessible in more than 180 countries, making it widely available for global travelers. For hotel bookings, users can specify trip details and preferences to receive curated lists of hotel options complete with reviews and important factors. Once a hotel is chosen, the booking process is facilitated through Google’s integrated partners and completed securely using Google Pay.

Hotel booking via AI Mode has begun rolling out in the United States, initially in English. Google's partners include major hotel chains and travel platforms such as Booking.com, Expedia, Hilton, Marriott, and Wyndham, among others. Google clarifies that while AI Mode helps initiate bookings, the final reservation and customer service are handled by the hotel or travel platform itself, ensuring a smooth user experience.

Additionally, AI Mode now provides the cost of flights and hotels in points or miles, broadening options for frequent travelers who prefer to redeem rewards. Users can query, for example, how many miles are needed for a particular nonstop flight, and the AI will present relevant options. This points-and-miles functionality is available worldwide, supporting travelers in optimizing their travel rewards. With these updates, Google is aiming to position AI Mode as a comprehensive AI travel assistant capable of handling both planning and booking tasks.
