His impressive 16-under performance at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta earned him a $10 million winner’s purse, pushing his career PGA Tour earnings to over $130 million. Scheffler entered the weekend just shy of overtaking Woods but clinched the top spot with his win, also marking his second FedEx Cup victory.

Prior to this tournament, Scheffler had already made significant moves on the career earnings list, passing Rory McIlroy two weeks earlier after winning the FedEx St. Jude Championship. Despite a solid 7-under showing at the BMW Championship the previous week, where he tied for 12th place, he had not yet surpassed Woods’ record. At the Tour Championship, Scheffler finished three strokes ahead of his closest competitor, Norwegian Viktor Hovland, who earned $5 million for second place.

This season presented challenges for Scheffler, who remained the world’s No. 1 golfer but endured a six-month gap between victories. After winning The American Express trophy in January, he did not claim another title until the FedEx St. Jude Championship. Despite that, he has consistently performed at a high level with 13 top-five finishes and has raked in more than $30 million in PGA Tour prize money this year alone.

Scheffler has also led the PGA Tour in prize money for five consecutive seasons, highlighting his dominance in the sport. Beyond prize money, he earned $23 million in FedEx Cup bonus money this season, although those figures don’t count toward official career earnings. His latest triumph cements his status as arguably the most financially successful golfer in the history of the PGA Tour.
