Trump Account holders may receive $250 Dell grant starting Monday, Dell Foundation says

Starting Monday, August 31, eligible children holding Trump Accounts will receive a $250 grant from the Dell Foundation. This announcement was confirmed by a Dell Foundation spokesperson, highlighting the automatic deposit of funds for qualified children beginning this week. Parents and guardians can verify their eligibility and monitor account activity through Invest America and the Trump Accounts app.

Michael Dell, CEO of Dell Technologies, alongside his wife Susan, committed a substantial $6.25 billion donation to support these grants for children born between 2016 and 2024. The initiative targets families living in ZIP codes where the median income is $150,000 or less, aiming to provide financial support to lower-income households. The Dell couple’s contribution is noted as the largest ever dedicated to U.S. children’s investment accounts, potentially benefiting around 25 million kids.

Trump Accounts, also known as 530A accounts, serve as tax-deferred investment accounts designed to encourage long-term savings for U.S. children under 18 who have a Social Security number. For children born from 2025 to 2028, the U.S. Department of the Treasury offers a one-time $1,000 deposit through a pilot program. The Dell grant complements this by supporting children outside of that deposit eligibility window, focusing on a wide range of younger beneficiaries.

Michael Dell emphasized that beyond financial outcomes, the initiative fosters a mindset shift among children who gain a sense of ownership in the American economy. This initiative is expected to have a compounding positive effect on education, homeownership, and entrepreneurship in the years ahead. As of now, approximately 7 million children have signed up for Trump Accounts, illustrating growing engagement with the program.
