Fambot, a startup founded by former Instagram engineer Greg Karlin and CEO David Reich, who previously led product teams at Uber and UnitedMasters, has launched an "AI chief of staff" designed specifically to help families manage the complex logistics of raising children. This AI assistant integrates with a family's email, calendar, and WhatsApp groups to streamline communication about school, sports, and other activities, easing the mental load that parents often face. Reich, a father himself, was motivated to build Fambot after struggling to balance executive tasks with quality family time, spending hours catching up on messages instead of being present with his children.

The Fambot platform creates a daily checklist for parents, summarizing to-dos and upcoming events, and operates through multiple interfaces including web and mobile apps, as well as via texting. This flexibility sets Fambot apart from other AI agents like Poke or Instinct, which rely solely on text communication. The company plans to expand integration with more apps commonly used by families, aiming to become a centralized hub for all family and children-related communications, including those from schools and clubs, providing proactive support rather than just reactive assistance.

Over 1,000 families tested Fambot during its beta, confirming that its utility extends beyond busy two-parent households to single-parent families, those with fewer children, and even families where parents might not be working. The startup is currently funded with $3.5 million in pre-seed capital from investors including NextView Ventures and Baukunst, and the service is free during the beta phase on iOS, Android, and the web. Post-beta, Fambot expects to charge a subscription fee roughly equivalent to that of Netflix.

Fambot addresses an important gap in family management technology for the 43 million U.S. households with kids under 16, offering a uniquely tailored AI solution to help parents anticipate and prepare for daily challenges. By relieving the time-consuming task of managing scattered information, Fambot aims to give parents back their time to engage more meaningfully with their children and reduce the stress associated with coordinating a busy family life.
