Daniel Levy, the former chairman of Tottenham Hotspur, has sold his 24.99% stake in ENIC Sports & Development, the entity that controls Spurs, to Eight Sports Capital, an investment firm led by tech entrepreneur Brooklyn Earick. This move concludes Levy’s relationship with the club after more than two decades marked by both influence and conflicts. Earick, a lifelong Tottenham supporter and former NASA engineer, had previously attempted a $5.9 billion bid to acquire Spurs, whose valuation currently stands at around $3 billion according to Forbes.
Eight Sports Capital, owned by U.S.-based Triller, a popular short-form video app notably expanded through fighting sports content, announced the transaction but financial details were not disclosed. A Tottenham representative clarified that the sale pertains solely to Levy’s private stake and does not involve the club’s day-to-day operations, emphasizing that the club’s board remains focused on its ongoing commitments to fans. Meanwhile, Eight Sports Capital expressed enthusiasm about supporting Spurs' future growth alongside existing shareholders and management.
Levy’s exit occurs amid ongoing tensions within Tottenham’s ownership. The club is majority-controlled by ENIC, which is in turn owned by the Lewis family trust. Joe Lewis, the 89-year-old billionaire behind the trust, has had diminishing direct control since 2022 and has faced legal issues including insider trading charges in the U.S., for which he received probation and a subsequent pardon from former president Donald Trump. Levy’s strained relationship with the Lewis family, especially Lewis’s adult children, is well documented and reportedly part of the backdrop to his decision to sell.
Despite ENIC’s assertions that the club is not for sale, there is a growing sense among Premier League insiders that Tottenham could be open to offers at the right price, potentially a "crazy" one given the club’s global brand and status. Tottenham narrowly avoided relegation in the 2025-26 Premier League season, finishing 17th, underscoring the challenges ahead for the club as Earick’s group takes a more significant role in its ownership structure following Levy’s departure.
