Stan Kroenke has reached an agreement to acquire a controlling stake in Major League Baseball’s Los Angeles Angels from the Moreno family. The deal values the team and its regional sports network at approximately $4 billion. Expected to close in the first quarter of 2027, this transaction expands Kroenke’s extensive sports holdings and deepens his presence in the Los Angeles market, a key hub for sports and entertainment.
Kroenke Sports and Entertainment (KSE), led by Kroenke as owner and chairman, was recently valued at over $26 billion by CNBC’s 2026 ranking of the world’s top sports empires. Adding the Angels to its portfolio means KSE now owns teams across all the major U.S. professional sports leagues, solidifying its stature in the business of sports. Kroenke expressed enthusiasm about owning a franchise with a rich history in a prominent market.
KSE’s current sports assets include the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams, the NBA’s Denver Nuggets, the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche, Major League Soccer’s Colorado Rapids, the National Lacrosse League’s Colorado Mammoth, and Premier League soccer’s Arsenal Football Club. The company also controls SoFi Stadium and the surrounding Hollywood Park district in Inglewood, California. Kroenke’s investment in the state-of-the-art SoFi Stadium exceeded $5 billion, underscoring his long-term commitment to premier sports venues.
Arte Moreno, who has owned the Angels for 23 years, praised Kroenke’s record of success and experience in sports ownership, calling KSE the ideal steward for the franchise’s next chapter. As Kroenke prepares to officially add the Angels to his portfolio, the move represents a major consolidation of sports assets in one of the world’s most dynamic entertainment cities.
