OneRail launches AI platform with Nvidia for retailers to make faster delivery decisions

OneRail has unveiled a new AI-powered platform called OmniStar, developed in partnership with Nvidia, to help retailers optimize last-mile delivery decisions quickly and efficiently. The platform leverages OneRail’s proprietary data and Nvidia’s AI technology to analyze and select the most cost-effective and timely delivery options for individual orders. This advancement aims to give smaller retailers the capability to compete with major players like Amazon and Walmart by enhancing their delivery speed and operational efficiency.

The OmniStar platform significantly reduces decision-making time from an average of 20 minutes to just two and a half minutes, enabling retailers to manage larger and more precise supply chains. OneRail CEO Bill Catania emphasized that the cost of last-mile fulfillment makes rapid and informed decisions critical to preserving margins. The AI-driven system continually evaluates various delivery scenarios, dynamically routing orders to the best carriers and delivery methods as market conditions shift, rather than relying on fixed rules or manual processes.

OneRail has already deployed OmniStar with select customers, including a large tire distributor that has experienced substantial cost savings—projected to save about $40 million over three years by optimizing resource use. The platform is anticipated to handle over $6 billion in gross merchandise volume by the fourth quarter of this year. According to Nvidia’s Azita Martin, this technology allows retailers to quickly adapt to changing conditions while improving delivery economics and customer satisfaction.

The company’s AI model benefits from OneRail’s extensive network of more than 12 million drivers and 1,000 logistics partners, which serve as the foundation for training the system’s delivery optimization algorithms. OneRail’s ongoing partnership with FedEx to expand same-day delivery services further enhances its ability to support smaller businesses in meeting consumer expectations. The company likens its innovation to how AI models like ChatGPT have democratized access to information, providing affordable, scalable delivery solutions to a broader range of retailers.
