Mick Schumacher has confirmed his move to Meyer Shank Racing (MSR) for the 2027 NTT IndyCar Series season, driving the No. 66 Honda alongside returning teammate Marcus Armstrong, who will pilot the No. 60. This announcement follows Schumacher’s strong rookie year in 2026 with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, where he adapted quickly to the unique challenges of American open-wheel racing and earned the Indy 500 Rookie of the Year award with a completed 200-lap race. Schumacher expressed enthusiasm about joining an ambitious and successful team, highlighting MSR's history and the opportunity to grow in his career.

During his impressive rookie season, the German driver demonstrated capability, especially on oval tracks, which are notoriously difficult for newcomers. He qualified fourth at both Phoenix Raceway and Milwaukee, and achieved a season-best finish of eighth at Nashville Superspeedway. Schumacher's broader racing background includes championships in FIA Formula 3 in 2018 and Formula 2 in 2020, 43 Formula One race starts with Haas in 2021-2022, and experience in endurance racing, including podiums in the FIA World Endurance Championship Hypercar class and multiple 24 Hours of Le Mans appearances.

Schumacher's new partnership at MSR will also include sponsorship from ENVE Composites, a Utah-based company specializing in high-performance carbon fiber bicycle components. ENVE Composites has a strong reputation in professional cycling, sponsoring top athletes like five-time Tour de France winner Tadej Pogačar. MSR co-owner Mike Shank praised Schumacher's rapid progress and potential in IndyCar and highlighted ENVE’s alignment with the team’s competitive values, suggesting a promising collaboration for the upcoming season.

With Schumacher joining MSR, the team is looking to finish the 2026 season positively while preparing for 2027. The new driver pairing will begin their campaign at the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg scheduled for March 5-7, 2027.
