Google Cloud has partnered with consulting giant Accenture to create a joint unit aimed at accelerating the deployment of AI technologies in enterprises. Named the Accenture Gemini Enterprise Business Group, this initiative focuses on embedding forward-deployed engineers (FDEs) within client organizations. These engineers will help companies adopt and customize AI applications built on Google’s Gemini Enterprise platform, addressing a critical bottleneck in AI implementation by combining technical and business expertise.
This move is part of Google Cloud’s broader strategy to catch up in the competitive enterprise AI market, where rivals like OpenAI, Anthropic, Microsoft, and Amazon have also invested heavily in FDE-driven services. Despite Google Cloud generating $24.8 billion in revenue in Q2, a significant part of which stems from AI, substantial investments totaling over $811 billion in purchase commitments and infrastructure mean the company needs effective deployment to realize returns. The new unit with Accenture is designed to meet this demand challenge by helping companies translate AI’s promise into concrete business outcomes.
The deal involves training up to 1,000 Accenture engineers to work closely on-site with clients, offering tailored AI solutions that integrate deeply with existing workflows. Google’s approach reflects a realization that many enterprises struggle to extract value from AI due to lack of expertise, making human guidance from FDEs vital. Accenture’s involvement strengthens its own expanding portfolio of FDE programs launched this year in collaboration with companies such as Microsoft, ServiceNow, and SAP, solidifying its position as a leading provider of AI integration services.
While Google currently captures a smaller share of U.S. enterprise AI spending compared to competitors Anthropic and OpenAI, the partnership enhances its capacity to compete for large, strategic customers like Oracle, Meta, and ServiceNow. This initiative follows earlier Google investments, including a $750 million partner ecosystem fund and a partnership with investment firm CVC Capital Partners to deploy AI engineers within portfolio companies. Together, these moves signal Google’s commitment to scaling AI adoption at the enterprise level and addressing the growing market demand for practical AI implementation expertise.
