The NFL’s Most Valuable Teams 2026

The Dallas Cowboys remain the NFL's most valuable franchise in 2026, commanding a record-breaking $17 billion valuation, a 31% rise from the previous year. Under owner Jerry Jones, the Cowboys generated an unprecedented $1.28 billion in revenue last season, surpassing Real Madrid’s 2024-25 figure, alongside a robust $677 million in operating income. This cements Dallas as the world's most profitable sports team, despite not winning a Super Bowl since 1996 and continuing their two-decade streak at the top of Forbes' NFL valuations.

This year saw notable transactions reshaping the league’s financial landscape, including billionaire Vinod Khosla's $9.6 billion acquisition of the Seattle Seahawks following NFL rules forcing the team’s sale after Paul Allen’s 2018 death. Even at nearly $10 billion, the Seahawks are only the 14th-most valuable NFL franchise, reflecting the league’s unprecedented growth. Ten teams now boast enterprise values over $10 billion, indicating a rising economic bar, with the average franchise worth $9.5 billion—a 34% jump since 2025 and a more than doubling since 2022.

The NFL’s financial expansion is supported by soaring national media deals, with teams earning over $400 million each from shared league revenues, and a salary cap reaching $301 million in 2026. The league, under Roger Goodell’s extended tenure through 2030, is aggressively growing globally with nine games outside the U.S. in 2026, including its first game in Australia. Stadium investments continue to fuel growth, with at least one team opening or renovating a venue annually through 2031, driving higher ticket, sponsorship, and event revenues.

Smaller stakes in multiple teams have also been sold at record valuations, setting higher benchmarks for franchise worth and reflecting heightened investor demand. Deals like Arctos’s stakes in the Browns and Falcons, and minority sales of the Raiders and Dolphins, underscore shifting ownership landscapes. While the NFL’s franchise values have surged to multiples far above past averages, scarcity of teams and long-tenured ownership groups limit expansion, maintaining a strong market floor with all 32 franchises valued above $8 billion, a rarity unmatched across professional sports.
