The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) is partnering with RM, leader of the global sensation BTS, to present a unique exhibition titled *RM x SFMOMA: Between You and Me*. Running from October 3, 2026, through February 7, 2027, this show offers the only U.S. display of RM’s personal art collection, which was curated by RM alongside SFMOMA curators América Castillo and Hyoeun Kim. The exhibition includes nearly 200 works from both Korean and international modern and contemporary artists, revealing pieces never before publically exhibited.

RM, whose real name is Kim Namjoon, began collecting art after a transformative 2018 visit to the Art Institute of Chicago, crediting the pursuit with enriching his life as a person and artist. He has actively promoted Korean art globally, including a significant 2020 donation of $84,000 to Korea’s National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Foundation to support Korean art publications distributed nationwide. RM’s appreciation extends into his music as well, drawing inspiration from Korean artists like Yun Hyong-keun for his 2022 solo album *Indigo*.

The exhibition places RM’s collection in dialogue with significant pieces from SFMOMA’s holdings, displaying works by artists like Donald Judd, Yves Klein, Henri Matisse, and Nam June Paik alongside Korean masters such as Chang Ucchin, Kim Whan-ki, and Park Rehyun. This blending underscores universal themes of nature, memory, and human existence while highlighting the artistic exchange between Korea and the West. Visitors can engage with bilingual labels written by RM, an audio guide narrated by him in both English and Korean, and a playlist he curated to accompany the artworks.

Tickets are now available to the public, with early access scheduled for SFMOMA members from October 1-3.
