Anthropic has consolidated its Claude chat and Cowork platforms into a single interface to simplify user experience. Previously, users had to navigate between multiple tabs to access chat, coworking, and the interactive workspace feature called Artifacts. The new unified design streamlines this process by automatically routing user requests within one window, eliminating confusion about which function to use for different tasks. This approach aims to make the AI assistant more intuitive and seamless across its various capabilities.
A key addition to the interface is Claude Design, which was introduced earlier this year for creating website designs and prototypes, and can now be used throughout Claude’s environment. Beyond design, Anthropic has enhanced the platform with dedicated tools for generating presentations and documents. Users can create, edit, and present slide decks with Claude’s assistance and export them as PDFs or PowerPoint files. The document feature allows collaborative editing, commenting, and progress tracking via mobile and desktop, providing a smooth workflow from creation to sharing.
These improvements are initially available to users on Claude’s Pro and Max subscription plans, with web, desktop, and mobile versions rolling out over the coming weeks. Anthropic plans to extend the new features to free and team subscriptions later. This update follows a recent upgrade to Cowork’s memory layer, which helps Claude retain user context across conversations, enhancing continuity and relevance in interactions.
The update reflects Anthropic’s focus on integrating multiple functionalities within one streamlined platform, reducing usability friction for its AI tools. It also positions Claude as a versatile assistant for both creative and productivity tasks, encouraging user retention among paying customers. Observers have noted that competitors, including OpenAI, might take note of the improved interface design as they continue developing their own conversational AI products.
