Salesforce and Nvidia’s new reasoning model is everything the AI labs should fear

Salesforce unveiled a new AI reasoning model named Koa during its Dreamforce 2026 conference, marking a significant advancement in enterprise AI solutions. Developed in partnership with Nvidia, Koa is built on Nvidia’s open-weight Nemotron model and is specifically fine-tuned for sales, marketing, and customer-support tasks. Unlike previous frontier AI models that require costly, direct integration of customer data, Koa offers an open-weight option that reduces expenses and enhances data security by using synthetic, simulated data for training instead of actual customer information.

Koa aims to address the unique demands of enterprise workflows by efficiently handling complex, multi-step reasoning tasks that were traditionally outsourced to external AI services such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT or Anthropic’s Claude. Before Koa, Salesforce’s Agentforce platform routed these tasks to frontier models via an AI gateway. With Koa, enterprises gain a token-efficient model that can operate without jeopardizing sensitive customer information while maintaining competitive performance in task-specific scenarios like customer service and sales operations.

One of the key benefits of Koa is its foundation on the Nemotron model, which offers a sovereign, American-based alternative to foreign or opaque AI models. This reduces concerns over unclear data provenance and maintains compliance with strict enterprise data handling standards. Nvidia’s unique architecture also makes Koa faster and more cost-effective by optimizing the token usage during inference, which is a notable improvement over other large language models that are typically resource-intensive.

Despite introducing Koa, Salesforce is maintaining partnerships with other AI providers to offer flexibility. The company has launched Claudeforce, a collaborative integration with Anthropic, allowing customers to use Claude’s capabilities while keeping their data protected within Salesforce’s infrastructure. This approach shows Salesforce’s commitment to giving enterprises diverse, secure AI options tailored to their specific operational needs in sales, marketing, and customer service.
