Google has launched an updated version of its AI assistant, CC, designed specifically to help families manage their daily household tasks. This new iteration of CC integrates with users' emails, calendars, chats, and tasks to coordinate family schedules, create shopping lists, plan meals, and handle administrative chores like filling out permission slips. Google’s goal with this shift is to make CC a practical tool that assists families in staying organized and easing the burden of running a busy household.
Originally introduced as a productivity-focused agent that summarized daily schedules through Gmail and Google Calendar, CC evolved based on user feedback emphasizing a need for household management features. The updated agent now enables family members to share various types of information—including emails about school events, appointments, and parties—by forwarding messages to CC or allowing automatic sharing from trusted senders. Each family member controls what they share, ensuring privacy while supporting collaboration.
CC supports up to six family members at once and manages shared calendars and task lists. When receiving confirmations for appointments or school announcements, the AI automatically adds them to the family’s calendar. It also tackles more complex tasks such as creating school supply lists, planning meals, coordinating drive times, and producing shared documents. The agent adapts over time by requesting missing information and updating its shared memory to improve its assistance.
Powered by Google’s Gemini AI and running on a dedicated cloud system called Antigravity, CC is currently available to U.S. users aged 18 and over with personal Gmail accounts. This restriction excludes younger family members and those using school-managed accounts, limiting broader household adoption for now. Google plans to invite existing CC users to upgrade and has opened a waitlist for new users seeking access to this family-focused AI household assistant.
