‘The Odyssey’: Universal Announces Details Of Streaming, 4K And Blu-Ray Releases

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has announced the home media release for Christopher Nolan’s summer hit, The Odyssey, set for November 17. The film, a cinematic retelling of Homer’s epic poem, starring Matt Damon as Odysseus, will be available across digital streaming platforms including Apple TV, Fandango at Home, Prime Video, and YouTube Movies & TV through premium video on demand. Additionally, it will launch in 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD formats.

The Odyssey hit theaters on July 17 and quickly became a box office sensation. It earned nearly $124 million domestically in its opening weekend and went on to accumulate $1.352 billion globally by mid-August. This massive haul made it the highest-grossing R-rated film ever, surpassing Deadpool & Wolverine. To date, it has earned more than $623 million in North America and nearly $1.159 billion internationally, totaling $1.782 billion worldwide, ranking second for 2026 behind Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which has grossed $2.513 billion.

Universal has revealed that the home release will be packed with about 90 minutes of bonus content. Included are 12 behind-the-scenes featurettes created under Nolan's guidance, with titles such as Plotting a Course, The Fall of Troy, and Bringing it Home. The 4K and Blu-ray editions will also offer an additional featurette about the film’s production, an exclusive IMAX prologue, a music video collaboration between James Blake, Travis Scott, and Ludwig Göransson, and trailers.

Pricing for these home versions is set at $19.99 to purchase or $14.99 to rent digitally on PVOD platforms. The 4K UHD package, which includes Blu-ray and a digital code, will retail for $29.99, while the Blu-ray alone costs $24.99 and the DVD is $19.99. The Odyssey’s release marks a significant move into the home entertainment market, drawing anticipation from fans eager to revisit Nolan’s ambitious depiction of the legendary Greek tale.
