McLaren Racing has entered a new partnership with global biopharmaceutical company AbbVie, timed to coincide with the 2026 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of The Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas. AbbVie will serve as an Official Pharmaceutical Partner to the McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team, launching the "AbbVie Race to Innovate" campaign. This initiative ties McLaren’s on-track performance to meaningful support for people living with immune-mediated diseases around the world.
Through the Race to Innovate program, AbbVie pledges to donate $10,000 for every 10 Constructors' Championship points earned by McLaren during the 2026 season, continuing into 2027. The donations will benefit global patient advocacy organizations that provide education, resources, and assistance to individuals affected by autoimmune conditions, a health challenge impacting nearly 10% of the global population. This collaboration highlights the shared value of innovation and progress between McLaren’s motorsport excellence and AbbVie’s pioneering advancements in immunology.
Leaders from both organizations emphasize their complementary missions. Matt Dennington, McLaren’s Co-Chief Commercial Officer, noted the partnership aligns two organizations striving to push boundaries—whether through high-performance racing or breakthrough medical research. AbbVie’s Senior Vice President, Tracie Haas, highlighted their long-standing commitment to immunology innovation and the opportunity to raise awareness of immune-mediated diseases on a global stage, leveraging McLaren’s Formula 1 platform.
AbbVie is renowned for nearly 30 years of leadership in immunology, with treatments that serve over a million patients across more than 20 diseases worldwide. This partnership with McLaren follows AbbVie’s prior sports engagement, like its work with Major League Baseball supporting cancer research. Positioned in North Chicago, Illinois, AbbVie's alliance with McLaren during the U.S. Grand Prix underscores a shared dedication to teamwork, precision, and continuous improvement in both healthcare and high-performance motorsport.
