Microsoft just shared Azure’s actual revenue in dollars: $33.2 billion

Microsoft has revealed, for the first time, the actual dollar revenue generated by its cloud platform Azure, reporting $33.2 billion for the July-September quarter of 2026. This marks a substantial 48% increase compared to the same period a year earlier and positions Azure slightly ahead of Google Cloud’s $30.7 billion revenue for the quarter, according to Alphabet’s earnings report. Azure’s revenue contributes significantly to Microsoft’s overall $92.3 billion in quarterly revenue, representing about 36% of the total.

Azure’s growth underscores its role as Microsoft’s largest and fastest-growing product line, with revenue surpassing analysts’ expectations by roughly $850 million. The platform is included within Microsoft’s newly formed “Agents and Infrastructure” segment, which brought in $76.8 billion this quarter, a 25% rise year-over-year. Microsoft positions Azure as a vital service for businesses to rent computing power needed for applications, SaaS deployments, and AI model operations.

The revelation of Azure’s revenue comes amidst a competitive cloud market landscape, with Amazon Web Services (AWS) remaining the dominant player. Although AWS’s full figures are yet to be reported, Microsoft’s transparent disclosure allows investors to more closely compare the cloud giants. Notably, Google Cloud’s revenue doubled year-over-year, growing at around twice the pace of Azure, highlighting intense competition among cloud service providers.

Microsoft also reported significant investment to support this rapid cloud growth, with capital expenditures hitting a record $45.2 billion this quarter. The company continues to capitalize on its cloud capabilities, including running AI workloads through Azure and backing OpenAI services, which generated $10 billion in Microsoft revenue. These developments demonstrate Microsoft’s deepening engagement in AI-powered cloud services and its strategic commitment to building future revenue streams in this space.
