Israeli startup 42AI has emerged from stealth mode with $62.5 million in seed funding to unveil its innovative "behavioral world model" AI, which aims to predict human decisions before they are made, even in novel scenarios. Founded by Amit Gal-Or and Ehud Ezra, the company has initially deployed this predictive technology at financial brokerages to anticipate traders' responses to market volatility. Their model analyzes probabilities of behavior based on individuals’ intrinsic psychological tendencies rather than relying solely on past actions.
The system operates by examining a wide range of data points, such as customer interactions during onboarding, support calls, and trading patterns, to infer internal motivations. These observations are transformed into mathematical traits and fed into a transformer-based world model that simulates decision probabilities under varying conditions. Unlike deterministic models, 42AI’s approach preserves consistent behavioral tendencies while accommodating probabilistic outcomes, achieving reportedly high accuracy metrics in forecasting trading flows and volumes.
42AI’s development process spanned three years and incorporated insights from psychology, neuroscience, and genetics, supported by datasets involving millions of people, including government and biobank records. Currently collaborating with about 10 major brokerages, the startup has generated millions in revenue and claims that one client realized $30 million in added value through improved risk hedging. Although the technology prides itself on privacy by not using personally identifiable information, it does rely on linked behavioral profiles derived from customer activities.
Looking ahead, 42AI plans to expand beyond finance into sectors like gaming, fraud prevention, and cybersecurity, with ambitions to ultimately enable robots and AI agents to understand and predict human behavior more intuitively. While the founders acknowledge ethical concerns about how predictive insights might be used, especially around potential exploitation, they emphasize regulatory oversight and internal ethics as safeguards. CEO Amit Gal-Or expressed confidence that their technology itself offers a solution to risks arising from unpredictable human decision-making.
