Netflix’s new AI Discover tab helps you find something to watch based on your mood

Netflix unveiled a new feature called the "AI Discover" tab, designed to help viewers find content based on their current mood or preferences. Launched on November 3, 2026, the tab offers curated themes such as “something light,” “scare me,” “family movie night,” and “quick watches,” accompanied by clips from shows and movies. This initiative aims to simplify navigation of Netflix’s expanding library and shift the user experience from endless scrolling to personalized, AI-driven recommendations.

Powered by a novel intelligence layer that responds in real time and continuously learns from user input, AI Discover enables users to select moods or themes and receive tailored suggestions. Users can explore more specific sub-themes, restart their search with a “something different” option, or fine-tune future recommendations through a “Tune Your Recommendations” button. This feature is currently rolling out in the U.S. for English-speaking Netflix users on supported TVs, showing up as a “Discover” button in the top navigation bar.

Netflix describes AI Discover as a "test kitchen" for experimenting with new approaches to content discovery. The company plans to gather user feedback to refine and decide which features will be integrated into its main platform. This launch reflects Netflix’s ongoing efforts to innovate its recommendation system by combining advanced AI technology with direct user engagement for a more satisfying viewing experience.

The feature’s initial rollout focuses on television users in the U.S., with plans to expand availability in the coming weeks. Netflix's move toward an AI-supported discovery experience highlights the growing influence of AI in how digital entertainment platforms cater to diverse audience moods and interests, marking a significant step in the evolution of streaming services.
