Flutter’s new CEO Dan Taylor delivered his first earnings report on November 4, 2026, revealing that the company missed Wall Street expectations in the third quarter, with revenue and adjusted EBITDA both falling short. Despite the financial setbacks, including a net loss of $1.15 billion primarily due to a significant impairment related to Brazil’s ban on sports betting, Taylor expressed confidence in the company’s path forward. He emphasized that improvements to FanDuel’s product and customer rewards are driving positive momentum, with average monthly players up 9% and bet counts rising 15% in the U.S. sportsbook during Q3.
Taylor highlighted FanDuel’s new nationwide rewards program introduced in September, which has been well received by customers, contributing to improving engagement metrics. He described the competitive market as fierce but pointed to a 271% surge in FanDuel Predicts trading volume since July and 140,000 new customers added to the platform in October. The company has increased its media spending to support this growth and is focusing on delighting customers by enhancing product offerings and customer experience as key levers for expanding its market share.
Despite these initiatives, Flutter’s financial outlook was revised downward for the remainder of 2026, with the full-year revenue midpoint cut by $300 million to $17.61 billion and the adjusted EBITDA forecast reduced by $160 million to nearly $2.5 billion. Taylor attributed some challenges to unfavorable sports outcomes and regulatory disruptions in Brazil while reiterating that the firm is focused on long-term growth, organic expansion, and returning leverage to their target range in the coming two years. Capital returns, including buybacks, are paused until financial targets improve.
Taylor also defended the wider U.S. market opportunity, noting that half the country still lacks regulated sports betting access and 90% does not have regulated online gaming, supporting regulatory expansion as a bipartisan issue. Balancing robust promotional spending with structural margin improvement remains a priority as Flutter navigates a highly competitive environment. With Taylor at the helm for only five weeks, the company aims to convert growing customer engagement at FanDuel into sustainable profitability in the future.
