ESPN Ending Syndicated Version of ‘Good Morning Football’

As the 2026 NFL season nears, ESPN has opted to discontinue the syndicated edition of Good Morning Football, known as GMFB: Overtime. This decision ends the two-hour version of the flagship NFL Network program, which had been distributed via Sony Pictures to platforms like the Roku Channel and select local stations, including Fox-owned channels. ESPN recently acquired NFL Network earlier this year and chose not to renew the syndication for a third season, though the specific reasons behind this move remain undisclosed.

Good Morning Football originally launched in August 2016 and is now approaching its 10th anniversary. The primary show will continue to air on NFL Network with its established cast: Jamie Erdahl, Kyle Brandt, and Manti Te’o. It also features frequent contributions from reporters Ian Rapoport, Tom Pelissero, Mike Garafolo, Sherree Burruss, and Judy Battista. Despite the syndication cancellation, ESPN has confirmed it is maintaining contracts with key reporters such as Rapoport and Garafolo as part of its coverage plans.

The syndicated format had expanded the reach of the Good Morning Football brand and helped amplify NFL-related content through broader distribution channels. It served as an additional avenue for fans to engage with morning NFL discussions and analysis beyond the traditional NFL Network broadcast. With ESPN taking full control after the network acquisition, a strategic realignment of programming distribution appears to be underway.

Although the end of GMFB: Overtime marks a contraction in the program’s syndication footprint, the core Good Morning Football show remains a staple on NFL Network. ESPN’s continued investment in talent and content signals an ongoing commitment to delivering NFL insights to viewers. As Good Morning Football approaches a decade on air, the program continues to hold significant influence in football media coverage amid changing corporate priorities.
