Trump Media pitched $100,000 monthly fee for fastest feed of U.S. president’s posts, sources say

Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), owner of the social media platform Truth Social, has proposed charging Wall Street traders and investment firms up to $100,000 per month for accelerated access to posts by former President Donald Trump. Discussions also include a discounted rate of $60,000 monthly for those committing to a three-year contract. This subscription would provide high-frequency trading firms and hedge funds with the fastest feed from the 10 most influential Truth Social accounts via a new paid data product called the “Truth API,” launching August 1.

This new revenue model marks TMTG’s initial foray into data licensing to capture value from the market-moving nature of Trump’s posts, which have influenced financial markets in the past. For instance, on April 9, 2025, major U.S. stock indexes surged following a Truth Social post from Trump announcing a temporary pause on tariffs. The speed advantage to access such posts matters greatly to traders, with milliseconds potentially translating into significant financial gains, underscoring the strategic value of the Truth API.

The launch has met bipartisan criticism about ethics and potential conflicts of interest. Democratic Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon called the plan one that would enrich Trump’s family and Wall Street traders, while Senator Elizabeth Warren described it as exploiting the presidency for profit. Critics argue the arrangement pushes ethical boundaries by monetizing privileged access to presidential communications, although legal experts note existing regulations do not clearly prohibit such a paid-access model, given the broad dissemination of posts.

Trump’s family has a substantial stake in TMTG through the Donald J. Trump Revocable Trust, which owns approximately 41% of the company. Financial disclosures have shown Trump benefiting from related digital asset ventures linked to policy moves announced during his administration. Despite the controversy, TMTG shares have traded flat recently, valuing the company near $2.7 billion, as the business tries to establish itself amid fierce competition in social media and data services.
