Netflix has confirmed that it acquired InterPositive, an AI filmmaking startup co-founded by actor and director Ben Affleck, for $587 million in cash. The acquisition was first announced by Netflix in March 2026, but the financial details were revealed only recently in a regulatory filing. This move reflects Netflix’s growing investment in AI technologies aimed at enhancing media production and creativity.

InterPositive’s AI tools are designed to assist filmmakers in post-production by addressing issues that commonly arise during filming, such as missing shots, background replacements, and lighting corrections. Ben Affleck emphasized that the startup’s technology is meant to safeguard and amplify human creativity, rather than replace it. Affleck joined Netflix as a senior advisor as part of the acquisition, with the full InterPositive team integrating into the streaming giant’s operations.

The acquisition aligns with Netflix's broader strategy, as the company reported that around 300 of its titles have incorporated generative AI in some capacity this year.
