Elon Musk’s X Money app is rolling out in the US

Elon Musk's financial services vision is advancing with the U.S. rollout of the X Money app, available to paid subscribers of the X platform. Launching on July 28, 2026, the app includes an X Visa debit card users can immediately add to Apple Pay for instant, fee-free peer-to-peer transfers within the application. Subscribers also receive a physical debit card that boasts no foreign transaction fees and allows for free cash withdrawals globally, positioning X Money as a versatile payment tool.

The app offers distinct benefits based on subscription tiers. Premium+ members, paying $40 monthly or $395 annually, can earn a 6% annual percentage yield (APY) on their balance. Standard Premium subscribers, who pay $8 per month or $84 yearly, can access that same 6% APY if they link direct deposits to their X Money accounts. Additionally, the app promises up to 3% cashback on qualifying purchases and the ability to access direct deposits a few days early when accounts are linked.

X Money represents a fulfillment of Musk’s long-term ambition connecting back to X.com, originally founded in 1999 as a financial startup that eventually merged to become PayPal. After acquiring Twitter in 2022 and rebranding it as X, Musk reacquired the X.com domain, signaling his intent to transform the social media platform into an “everything app.” The introduction of X Money is a key element in expanding X’s offerings beyond social networking into financial services.

This development comes amid Musk’s broader strategy to integrate commerce and communication on a single platform. By leveraging its millions of users, X aims to compete with established fintech and payment companies through seamless social and financial connectivity. As the X Money app debuts for U.S. users, it may lay the groundwork for future financial products and services integrated within the evolving X ecosystem.
