Rivian’s spinoff company Also is set to begin delivering its first e-bikes, the TM-B Launch Edition, after enduring several months of delays largely due to supply chain challenges. The $4,500 e-bike recently started shipping from the manufacturer to Also’s U.S. warehouse, with deliveries expected to be completed between early August and September. The startup initially planned a spring 2026 release but adjusted timelines as demand surged for raw materials and electronic components, which slowed production ramp-up without compromising safety or quality.
Originally conceived as a skunkworks initiative within Rivian in 2022, Also evolved under CEO RJ Scaringe’s vision to expand his electric vehicle offerings to outdoor-focused consumers. The company even collaborated with Jony Ive’s design firm LoveFrom to refine early designs. By March 2025, Also launched as an independent entity backed by $105 million from Eclipse and unveiled the TM-B e-bike in October 2025, showcasing its high-end modular features.
Beyond e-bikes, Also positions itself primarily as a vehicle company targeting broader applications, including plans to manufacture four-wheel pedal-assist cargo vehicles for Amazon. The startup is also developing autonomous delivery vehicles in partnership with DoorDash, underlining its ambition to penetrate multiple segments of the micromobility and delivery markets.
Despite the progress, customer frustration has mounted amid shipment delays and communication hiccups. A recent Reddit discussion revealed displeasure about missed delivery promises and insufficient updates, with some customers canceling orders. Handling customer service effectively will be a critical challenge for Also as it navigates its initial product launch and sets sights on expanding its vehicle lineup.
