Cole Haan Makes A Play For Golf’s Fastest-Growing Demographic

Cole Haan, a brand with golf heritage dating back to 1940, is ramping up its involvement in the golf apparel market by launching its first women’s golf clothing line. This follows the introduction of men’s apparel earlier in 2026 and comes after strategic collaborations with Byrdie Golf Social Wear and PXG. The timing aligns with a significant surge in female golf participation, which the National Golf Foundation reported as a 45% increase since 2020, adding 2.5 million women to the sport and bringing the total female player count to 8.1 million.

The new women’s collection reflects Cole Haan’s response to the evolving golf consumer, who is younger, more diverse, and views golf as a lifestyle activity beyond just sport. The product range, priced between $98 and $218, includes polos, skorts, and lightweight windbreakers made from performance fabrics that emphasize versatility. Their philosophy is “course to everywhere,” aiming to blend style and functionality so that garments work well both on the golf course and in everyday settings.

Cole Haan’s push into women’s golf apparel is supported by a partnership with Catapult, which provides expertise in performance apparel and the golf industry. The company’s broader distribution strategy for this line will begin primarily through online channels and select wholesale partners, with plans to expand into physical retail stores as demand grows. Jeanine Farucci, Cole Haan’s VP of global brand marketing, expressed optimism about growing the women’s segment similarly to their men’s offerings.

Founded nearly a century ago and acquired from Nike by Apax Partners in 2012 for $570 million, Cole Haan operates over 100 domestic and international stores and a strong e-commerce presence. While their women’s golf footwear is already available in many stores, this latest apparel launch signals a careful but strategic expansion to capture a fast-growing demographic in golf. The brand is positioning itself to meet not only current customers but also to attract new female golfers with style-forward, performance-focused products.
