PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp emphasized the importance of enforcing existing rules, stating that any player seeking a return must first be free from contractual commitments related to LIV Golf. Brooks Koepka remains the only player to benefit from the PGA Tour’s one-time Returning Member Program, which Rolapp described as a unique opportunity without guarantees for similar future chances. Other notable LIV players eligible for such a pathway included Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau, and Cam Smith. Among them, Rahm is perceived as preparing to exit LIV Golf, though he still holds several years on his contract, while DeChambeau recently saw his agreement expire following the 2026 season. Rolapp expressed uncertainty about LIV Golf’s long-term prospects but noted ongoing efforts within the league to reorganize or evolve.

Rolapp also addressed the tour's approach toward competition and player inclusion, underscoring meritocracy as the guiding principle. He pointed out that all players will have the opportunity to earn their place based on performance rather than legacy status. This aligns with the PGA Tour’s planned two-tier structure launching in 2028, featuring a high-profile Championship Series with multi-million dollar purses and a secondary Challenger Series, designed to reward success and determine player progression. For former LIV athletes, opportunities to return to top-level golf may hinge on pursuing play on other tours, such as the DP World Tour, with potential elevation back to the PGA Tour by meeting performance benchmarks while no longer tied to LIV contracts. Rolapp cautioned that until players fully sever their LIV commitments and obligations, discussions about their eligibility for PGA Tour competition will not advance.
