‘Harry Potter’ Abu Dhabi Lands To Feature ‘Interactive Experiences’

Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi is set to unveil new Harry Potter-themed lands featuring immersive and interactive experiences, including Hogwarts Castle, Diagon Alley, and the Forbidden Forest. This marks the first time Warner Bros. themselves will operate Harry Potter lands, differentiating from Universal’s existing parks which have held the theme park license since 2007. The flagship attraction will be a ride based on the enchanted flying Ford Anglia, a departure from Universal’s offerings, highlighting thrilling scenes from the films that have yet to be explored in theme parks.

The development is overseen by Miral, a leading global theme park operator known for its dedication to exceptional quality and innovation. Miral’s approach emphasizes continuous enhancement of the guest experience and leverages the indoor setting of Warner Bros. World, which protects visitors from Abu Dhabi’s heat while allowing for highly detailed and elaborate scenery. This indoor environment enables the park to deliver richly immersive atmospheres, with exteriors as meticulously crafted as the interiors, raising expectations for what could become the world’s most visually impressive Harry Potter realm.

Design elements are shaped by veteran entertainment designer Kat Chang, who has extensive experience with interactive environments, including projects at Disney and Thinkwell, which also consults on this expansion. The interactive features in the Abu Dhabi lands are expected to surpass Universal’s wand-triggered effects, incorporating integrated games that encourage exploration and discovery throughout the themed areas, much like those found in other Yas Island parks such as SeaWorld Abu Dhabi. Such interactivity will add layers of engagement, offering visitors a truly magical experience.

Set to open several years from now with a grand reveal anticipated soon, the Harry Potter lands will also benefit from the creative expertise of TAIT and Thinkwell, companies with strong track records in immersive themed entertainment. Their combined experience, including work on the original Harry Potter studio tours and world-renowned attractions, ensures a richly detailed and authenticity-driven experience that blends movie magic and real-world design. Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi recently earned the prestigious Liseberg Applause Award, signaling its rising stature in the global theme park industry as it prepares to captivate Potter fans with its groundbreaking new additions.
