In addition to Siri’s improvements, the upgrade enhances Spotlight Search by allowing users to pose direct questions that pull answers from both local files and the web. Siri integration lets Spotlight search apps, documents, clipboard history, and recent searches, while also running Shortcuts for streamlined workflows. This integration means users can now quickly access detailed personal information, like membership IDs or trip details, without manually digging through their files, marking a step up in AI-driven productivity on Macs.

The macOS 27 update also introduces significant design refinements with consistent window corner radii, new Liquid Glass icons, and adjustable transparency controls that help harmonize the system’s visual elements. Other new features include AI-assisted document review through Siri, smarter file naming suggestions during downloads, and enhanced Safari capabilities such as AI-powered page tracking and tab organization. Child safety receives enhancements too, with streamlined setup flows, app scheduling, and remote access notifications for parents.

Beginning today, macOS 27 Golden Gate is available for Apple Silicon-based Macs starting with 2020 models. Users can upgrade via System Settings under Software Update.
