Good Good’s 50 States In 50 Days: The Second Five Golf Courses Reviewed

Good Good’s ongoing 50-states-in-50-days golf journey recently covered Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, and Nebraska, combining competitive matches with quirky local experiences. In Wyoming, the group played Kendrick Golf Club, noted for its firm greens and long drives, and had fun racing motorized stuffed animals in a Sheridan mall. The Wyoming team match, a shamble format, resulted in a 4–2 victory for Garrett Clark, Tom “Bubbie” Broders, and Blake Mullen. This stop set an energetic tone, blending golf skill with playful moments.

The North Dakota leg took place at Prairie West Golf Course, where a new, controversial mascot, a $40 plastic screaming chicken named Jimmy, stirred lively interactions. The group explored a dinosaur museum nearby, adding to the day’s entertainment. The golf format was a two-versus-four scramble that ended in a close playoff, with Timothy “Bubbie” Broders securing the win. Despite some tensions related to the mascot, the team appreciation for the local course and hospitality was clear.

In South Dakota, the team visited Sioux Falls and played Prairie Green Golf Course, a lush municipal course. They split into three two-man teams playing a scramble that ended in a three-way tie, leading to a playoff where Ghetti and Bubbie triumphed. The group also experienced local culture, including the scenic but notably smelly falls downtown. This episode highlighted the blend of golf competition with unique local flavor and community engagement.

The journey’s doubleheader included Iowa’s Whispering Creek Golf Club and Nebraska’s Landmand Golf Club. In Iowa, the group enjoyed a pool game at Bodega’s and met a nonprofit founder supporting youth golf, adding a heartwarming dimension. The match featured an alternate-shot knockout format, with Matt Scharff and Blake Mullen winning the final coin. Nebraska’s Landmand Golf Club, ranked 23rd on Golf Digest's Top 100 Public Courses, challenged the players with head-to-head match play. Despite back pain, Scharff and team secured victory in a close contest. The Nebraska stop was noted as the highlight, featuring spectacular course views and demanding shot-making.
