South Korean girl group ILLIT has set a new career record with the release of their fifth mini album, "BREAK EVEN," selling 382,991 physical copies on its first day according to Hanteo Chart. This surpasses their previous first-day sales high from 2024’s "bomb," which sold 326,117 copies. The four-track EP features the electro-pop lead single “You’re Under Arrest,” which stars actor Song Kang in its music video and was co-produced by HYBE chairman Bang Si-Hyuk and famed producer Slow Rabbit.
"BREAK EVEN" explores the emotional "break-even point" in a relationship through its songs, blending genres from indie dance to baile funk. Aside from Bang and Slow Rabbit, the production includes longtime ILLIT collaborator Frants and notable co-writer Brooke Candy on one track. Although the group is currently active as four members due to Moka’s hiatus for mental health reasons, the album and video include subtle tributes to her, and she has recently made appearances hinting at a potential return.
The album’s strong sales and pre-release buzz, including topping Spotify’s global "Countdown Chart" and accumulating over 500,000 pre-saves, have positioned ILLIT to capitalize on awards season. They have secured a nomination for Best Female K-Pop Artist at the 2026 American Music Awards and five nominations at the MAMA Awards, further cementing their rising global influence. Their previous successes include a historic Billboard Hot 100 debut with “Magnetic” and a Billboard 200 peak at No. 26 with their 2026 release "MAMIHLAPINATAPAI."
As the physical release of "BREAK EVEN" drops in the U.S. on October 30, ILLIT builds momentum ahead of year-end events including the Asia Artist Awards in December. The group continues its upward trajectory, breaking their own sales records and expanding international visibility. This pivotal milestone not only reflects commercial growth but also growing creative maturity in their evolving discography under the BELIFT LAB label and HYBE entertainment umbrella.
