Apple has introduced its latest 14-inch MacBook Pro, which now runs on the new M6 chip. This model boasts up to 24 hours of battery life and includes updated connectivity options like Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. The laptop is available in space black and silver, starting at a price of $1,999. Apple also revealed a new iMac powered by the same M6 chip, announced a day ahead of its “Pro and Tell” event.
The M6 chip in the MacBook Pro features a 12-core CPU with the world’s fastest core and a 12-core GPU, delivering notably faster graphics, AI processing, and overall performance compared to its M5 predecessor. Apple claims this chip provides up to 30% better graphics performance and 25% quicker AI workload handling, with prompt-processing speeds far surpassing older models such as the M1. The laptop starts with 16GB of unified memory and can be upgraded to 32GB, featuring increased memory bandwidth as well.
The device is equipped with multiple ports, including HDMI, MagSafe 3, three Thunderbolt 4 slots, an SDXC card reader, and a headphone jack. It retains the 12-megapixel camera seen on previous models and supports fast charging, allowing the battery to reach 50% charge within 30 minutes when using a compatible adapter. These features enhance the laptop’s appeal for professionals seeking a high-performing and versatile device.
The new M6-powered iMac also offers improved CPU and GPU speeds with integrated Neural Accelerators, aimed at smooth multitasking and efficient performance for daily use and creative workflows. Starting at $1,499, the iMac comes in several vibrant colors and features a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display, upgraded camera and audio systems, up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports, and macOS 27. Both the MacBook Pro and iMac are available for preorder beginning October 28, with shipments starting November 6.
