Meta has quietly introduced Style Sketch, a new AI-powered fashion app designed to help users create outfit ideas from clothing they already own. The app integrates with Instagram to compile a virtual closet using images users have previously shared, or it allows for manual addition of items via photos, short videos, or uploads from a device’s camera roll. Style Sketch then suggests outfit combinations that align with the user's personal style, complete with virtual try-ons on a realistic model reflecting their body shape and skin tone.
Initially launched in select Southeast Asian markets including Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand, Style Sketch is accessible on both iOS and Android platforms. Although Meta has not publicly commented on the app or detailed plans for a broader rollout, the launch was first noticed by social media consultant Matt Navarra. Besides outfit suggestions, the app offers features such as weather-responsive wardrobe choices and tailored packing plans for trips, adjusting outfits according to destination, duration, and activity type.
In a competitive market where apps like Alta and tools like Google Photos already offer digital wardrobe solutions, Meta’s app stands out due to its deep integration with Instagram. This connection provides users with a built-in visual record of their fashion history and enables them to generate outfit ideas centered on specific pieces from their existing wardrobe, rather than relying on random suggestions. This strategic integration could give Meta an edge in encouraging users to engage with the app through an existing platform.
Style Sketch is part of a larger push by Meta to release more AI-driven applications rapidly, following recent launches like the AI-based pet app Waddle World, the game development tool Pocket, and the video creation app Vibes. According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has indicated the company aims to increase its pace of app releases substantially, leveraging AI efficiencies to innovate and expand its offerings in various consumer tech segments.
