WNBA Star Chelsea Gray to Join Prime Video As Player Contributor

Las Vegas Aces star Chelsea Gray is joining Amazon Prime Video’s WNBA on Prime pregame show as a player contributor for select appearances during the remainder of the 2026 WNBA season. This move continues the growing trend of active professional basketball players taking on in-season media roles, joining the ranks of fellow WNBA players Sophie Cunningham and Kelsey Plum, as well as NBA players like Kyle Lowry and Tyrese Haliburton who have contributed to the platform’s coverage. Gray’s role will provide fans with a real-time player perspective on games and insights that only an active athlete can offer.

Gray emphasized that networks are starting to recognize the unique value of having current players provide commentary, as they understand the game’s nuances from firsthand experience. As a four-time WNBA champion and six-time All-Star, Gray plans to use her deep knowledge to highlight the small but crucial details in the regular season that contribute to championship success. She expressed confidence that her perspective will enrich the broadcast and resonate with viewers by offering an authentic glimpse “from the trenches.”

This new media role isn’t Gray’s first experience in broadcasting. Previously, she worked with the Sacramento Kings’ broadcast team during the 2023–24 NBA season and has served as a women’s college basketball analyst for the ACC Network. However, this opportunity marks her first time providing commentary while actively competing against her peers in the league, a challenge she says she is prepared to handle with an optimistic and respectful approach, supported by her successes and reputation in the WNBA.

Prime Video’s WNBA coverage includes 31 regular-season games plus the Commissioner’s Cup championship, which Gray’s Aces are scheduled to compete in against the New York Liberty. Her participation on the pregame show is set to elevate the broadcast by bringing an insider’s perspective during a key stage of the season, further highlighting Prime Video’s commitment to sports programming enriched by authentic player insight.
